Gotemba most of all drew our attention because of its closeness to Mt. Fuji which is of course (deservedly) one of the most popular attractions in the country. It also has a surprisingly large and beautiful “peace park” to offer, with monuments and a lot of smaller statues and stone lanterns!
With a cloudy, moody weather, we also had the park to ourselves and a nice little background for the photos.~

But luckily the weather also cleared up a bit during our short stay and monsieur Fuji revealed itself to us, first only during a minorly spectacular sunset and the next morning also in its full presence. Either way, it draws most of the attention to itself it’s so spectacular to look at and leaves the city as a small foreground (NPC vibes, so to say~).

These pictures are also still from the peace park — it really is quite photogenic and worth a trip! If I understood it correctly, the whole park has mostly been sponsored by a rich businessman, which certainly seems like a good use of that money, compared to let’s say a yacht or such.~
